App-store rank & review monitoring (ASO)

App Store and Google Play rankings, search suggestions and even review ordering differ per country and per storefront. ASO teams tracking keywords across 20 markets need per-country IPs — a single-geo crawler reports charts nobody in the target market actually sees.

EDITOR'S PICK
Decodo and IPRoyal cover 20+ storefront geos on light traffic for pocket money — ASO crawling is low-GB, so value-per-GB matters more than pool size. SOAX adds carrier/city precision when a market needs it. DataImpulse is the budget scale-out; Bright Data enters when you also render full store pages for screenshots.

How to set up — step by step

Baseline configuration to get started right after the proxy purchase.

1. One country = one storefront = one geo pin

Google Play localises by IP and account country; the App Store by storefront. To read the charts a user in Japan sees, request through a Japanese residential IP with the right store parameters — mixing geos mid-crawl silently corrupts a whole tracking run.

2. Track suggestions, not just ranks

Search-suggestion order is the cheapest ASO intel there is: it shifts days before chart positions move. A daily suggestion snapshot per keyword per market through the same geo-pinned setup costs a few MB and often pays for the whole pipeline.

3. Reviews need pagination discipline

Review feeds are paginated and rate-limited harder than charts. Pull deltas only (newest since last crawl), space the requests, and rotate per storefront rather than per page — burning one IP across 40 review pages of one app is the classic ban pattern here.

⚡ Store quirks worth knowing (checked 11.07.2026)

Google Play serves different results for the same query depending on device profile embedded in the request headers — keep a consistent mobile UA per run or ranks jitter. The App Store's charts endpoint regionalises by storefront ID first and IP second, so a mismatched pair (US IP + JP storefront) returns a blend that matches neither market. Both stores throttle datacenter ASNs on review feeds well before charts — residential matters most on the review leg.

Frequently asked questions

Questions that come up for teams working on this task.
Q.01Is there an official API instead?
+
Apple and Google expose developer APIs for your own apps only. Competitive rank and review data across arbitrary apps still requires reading the public storefronts — which is what every commercial ASO tool does under the hood.
Q.02How many countries do I really need?
+
Track where your installs and revenue actually come from plus the two or three markets you plan to enter. A 10-country grid covers most portfolios; a 30-country grid is agency territory.
